Catching up: Our Halloween Shenanigans

I realize this post is quite a bit late, but we've been pretty busy the past few months and I'm finally getting time to catch up with some writing. We recently celebrated our one-year-anniversary, and spent our first couple major holidays living together as a small family (just us and our cats for now). We carved pumpkins on Halloween Eve and spent time watching horror movies together, and then on Thanksgiving I prepared a traditional soul food Thanksgiving feast for him (a girl's gotta show off her cooking skills, right?) Tyler also took me out to one of my favorite restaurants after we finished carving our Halloween pumpkins.

Carving pumpkins together for the first time

Vinny guarded the carving kit

We both love Halloween, and since this was our first Halloween as an official couple we wanted to do something cheesy and fun. Tyler chose a big orange pumpkin, and I chose a funky white one. We didn't use a stencil or pattern, instead choosing to freehand our own face designs. We wanted to get a sturdier carving tool set, since we plan on carving more pumpkins next year, so we bought this one off of Amazon (not an affiliate link).

This was Tyler's first time ever carving a pumpkin, so it was hilarious to watch him struggle with the tools. It was even more hilarious when he tasted some of the flesh of the pumpkin and started gagging. He did a fun happy face on his, and I carved three different faces on mine. They may not have been fancy, stenciled or super artistic, but we had a great time doing it -- and they were still hella cute.

Dinner at The Peppermill

The Peppermill is one of my fave places to eat in Las Vegas. It's also one of the first places Tyler took me on a date. It was almost a year after our first date there, so we topped off our Halloween Eve and pumpkin carving shenanigans with a throwback. If you know anything about The Peppermill, then you probably know that they give you HUMONGOUS servings of food. If you've never been, don't get an appetizer if you're getting an entrée unless you plan on sharing with a group. I got the fish and chips platter, and Tyler got a burger and fries. We also had some pretty big salads with our meal.

What Happened to Omnia Ferox Design on Etsy?

For a handful of years I operated a moderately successful Etsy store selling my artwork and jewelry creations, but now when you try to visit my once-popular Etsy store, it's no more. What's worse: What used to be five stars, is now only one. It's heartbreaking to see from my end, and probably a little troubling to see by those who have shopped with me before. Well, here's what happened: In 2023, I left my husband due to reasons surrounding abuse and general unhappiness. When I left, I left with nothing and had to relocated to a seedy weekly motel until I could figure my life out. I couldn't focus on my store, and I unwittingly neglected to ship out an order. I did issue a refund, and closed my store down promptly after discovering that a customer was unhappy, but when I closed down the store what was left in its place was a one-star review replacing the dozens of positive ones.  It's a shame that it came to this, but it doesn't mean that I won't try aga...

Thanks for stopping by (Again)

If you've visited this site in the past you might remember it as an artist portfolio site and gallery. Well, things are going to be changing around here a little -- and for the better! I've decided to turn this domain into my personal blog as well as a place to show off my artistic creations. Art is incredibly personal to me, and so it makes sense for this former-gallery to evolve into a personal blog from the heart. Hopefully you appreciate this look into my life and various creative projects that I get into to occupy my spare time!

Finally getting back into art

It's been a while since I was in the mood to draw, paint or do anything creative -- especially since divorcing my ex husband, picking up my life and starting over from scratch. I've finally started to get back into drawing, though, and things are starting to feel like they're getting back to normal.
